About Michaela

The most important part of a therapeutic process is the relationship between counsellor and client, so let me introduce myself…

Hi, I’m Michaela. As a holistic counsellor in Cheshire, I am dedicated to helping individuals navigate their mental health journeys. With a HE diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a deep understanding of human emotions, I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your inner world and work towards healing and personal growth. My work is integrative, underpinned by person-centred therapy, this means I use various counselling approaches to support you in finding your own solutions. I am BACP registered which means you are always in safe hands.

Am I the ‘right’ counsellor for you?

So in truth you will only know a few sessions in if I’m the right fit. But to help you get an idea, here’s how I work…

Emotional and mental wellbeing is an ongoing journey. I feel that in order to build progress on this journey we must look into not only the mind but the body as well. Therefore sessions are conducted with a holistic approach and clients may be encouraged to look at physical signs their body is providing for them. Diet, movement, down time, and work-life balance are all things that can be looked into to aid in the client’s personal growth.

I conduct sessions in a client centred manner. This means that the client is welcome to work through whatever they want each session. If the topic changes each week that’s absolutely fine! It is common to have a lighter session after a few heavier ones, this is part of the therapeutic process and clients shouldn’t feel disheartened if they feel they haven’t dug up anything big one week.

I always aim to ensure clients feel completely comfortable and at ease. If there is something you feel unhappy with, or if you feel ready to end the counselling relationship, then I warmly encourage you to discuss this with me. If it’s easier to do this via text or email then I am happy to do so.

My counsellor values

I work to the BACP Ethical Framework and Good Practice document. These are a set of guidelines aimed to ensure counsellors are working with their clients’ best interests in mind.

I feel that one of the main values I hold towards my clients is respect. The client has the right to be self governing and it is important to honour this so they can make the appropriate choices for themselves.

I also consider professional standards to be of the utmost importance. In order to ensure my knowledge is up to date I partake in regular CPD courses. I keep my notes securely stored along with any personal information from clients.

I aim to always be empathetic, diligent, and sincere with my clients.

This counselling journey has been such a positive experience for me. I never really knew how I would feel talking to a stranger but after my first session meeting Michaela, I felt at ease and it was so easy to make conversation about everything and anything. I came here feeling rather lost within my head, I had been through a terrible time and needed to find me again. I can happily say Michaela has helped me lots and given me the tools that I need if I’m ever in a dark place again.

As with all services related to mental-health, the most important part is connecting with the person you’re speaking to and feeling comfortable enough to open up. From the moment we started speaking, I instantly trusted Michaela and felt the warmth of her character radiate through the screen. We have a couple of sessions left so I can’t comment on the ‘finished article’ but if you’re unsure on whether this is right for you, believe me; just give it a go!
